It sounded like a big change, but the doctors at Central Illinois Direct Care were intrigued when their son (also a doctor) introduced them to a different model of health care. Dr. Dru Hauter and Dr. Marcia Hauter talked with students about their careers and what prompted them to make the shift to the direct care model.
At CIDC, patients pay a monthly fee and can have direct access to their doctor with as many appointments or consultations as needed throughout the month. This model allows patients unhurried office visits, access to discounts on medications, labs, pathology, and imaging, all without the need for insurance. By removing the insurance red tape they are able to keep their prices affordable.
Dr. Dru specializes in internal medicine while Dr. Marcia focuses on family medicine. They spent most of their careers working in various health care practices around central Illinois. Dr. Dru started CIDC as a solo practice, and Dr. Marcia eventually joined him.
They pride themselves on the amount of time and attention that can give their patients. When patients schedule an in-person visit, they block out an entire hour for the appointment. This allows the doctors to really get to know each and every patient. (Did you know? The average time a patient spends with a doctor is just seven minutes.)
When asked why they chose to open the practice in Lincoln, Dr. Marcia said, "We opened this business as a service to the people in this area. This is where we live, where we have raised our kids, and where we want to continue to serve."
Thank you for taking the time to meet with CEO!
