Small Town Creations owner Kathie Williams and her husband didn't originally set out to create the business they have now, but downtown Lincoln is so glad they did! Did you know? Small Town Creations is actually the combination of three businesses: a paint party business, an awards store, and a gift shop. Things came together very quickly and the learning curve was steep (she had never worked retail before!)
But now this business on the square (you know the one - with the iconic yellow door) thrives by its diversified offerings throughout the seasons. Kathie said she was not originally a coffee drinker and almost got rid of that part of the business. But coffee was the one thing that kept the shop afloat during the weeks she had to close during 2020. She's so glad she kept it - it is now a best-seller all year round. The "pretties" are in demand during the holiday season, the trophies keep her busy during all the sports seasons, and the personalized items are especially popular during the summer wedding season.
One thing Kathie emphasized was offering something unique. She tries to carry things in her store that no one else in town has. Lately she has focused on "interactive shopping" and launched a create-your-own charm jewelry station where customers can create personalized bracelets and necklaces.
Thank you for giving us a behind-the-scenes look at Small Town Creations. And thank you for all you do for the CEO program!
